Texas Road House
Before Nicola went home, we thought that we would try out a new restaurant, just for a change. Our next door neighbours mentioned that the Texas Roadhouse was a really good place to go for steak (an opinion that was also voiced by some of my co-workers). One of the really cool things about this steakhouse (unless you suffer from nut allergies) is that as you walk in there is a huge barrel of peanuts for you to help yourself to along with a bucket full of nuts on each table. These are the type of peanut that are still in their shells (like at the ballpark) & so that you don't have to worry about where to put the left over shells, you just chuck them on the floor!
I had both steak (which is hand-cut) & baby back ribs (where the meat does just literally fall off the bone), along with two sides (a cup of Chilli & fries). Cheryl had a 'loaded' baked (jacket) potato which was filled with sour cream cheese & bacon (these filling are what makes a potato 'loaded'). With the peanuts, hot bread rolls & endless drinks we were all fully fed & watered. This was probably the best steak & ribs that I have ate since moving to the US, so we'll probably go back to the 'Roadhouse' again!
